A project in development where food, connection, and care come together.
The Community Table.
The Community Table is the next chapter of my work — a space where everything I’ve lived, learned, and carried forward can take shape in a way that serves others. It grows directly out of my family’s legacy, my love of cooking and growing food, and the belief that nourishment is something we all deserve.
This project is being built slowly and intentionally.
It will become a place where people can gather, share seasonal meals, learn how to grow and cook fresh food, connect with others, and feel supported during hard times. It’s a way to take the values I was raised with — generosity, resilience, shared tables, open doors — and turn them into something living and accessible. The Community Table will offer programs centered around food, land, and connection. As the project develops, it will grow into:
Working with local farmers, gardeners, microgreen growers, chefs, and rescue organizations to strengthen the local food system and support the people who feed our community.
This is the foundation — a slow-built, heart-led ecosystem rooted in nourishment and belonging.
-
Warm, home-style meals—some paid, some sponsored, some completely free—because everyone deserves a place at the table.
-
A small, hands-on garden where people can learn to grow herbs, vegetables, and edible flowers, and reconnect with the land in a gentle, accessible way.
-
Cooking basics, preserving, herb blends, garden-to-table cooking, small-space gardening, seasonal produce, and legacy recipes.
-
Simple, heartfelt spaces where people can share stories, find support, and feel less alone.
Food can be healing, and these meals will honor that.
-
Working with local farmers, gardeners, microgreen growers, chefs, and rescue organizations to strengthen the local food system and support the people who feed our community.
How You Can Be Part of It.
The Community Table will open in phases, and people can get involved at any stage. Whether you’re interested in volunteering, sponsoring a meal, donating, helping in the garden, or simply staying informed, there will be many ways to contribute as we grow.
Every bit of support, from time to resources to encouragement, helps turn this vision into something real.
Moving Forward.
The Community Table is in development now, and the nonprofit, Calirosa Sol: The Joshua–Benson Community Table, is in the process of becoming an official 501(c)(3). While that work is underway, the foundation is already being built through the micro-farm, community meal planning, volunteer interest, and the partnerships beginning to take shape.
This is the long-term vision, a place where everything I have carried from my mother, my son, my brothers, and the Joshua–Benson family can live on in the form of nourishment, education, and connection.
At the heart of it is a simple belief:
Meet. Eat. Share.
This is the table we are building together, rooted in community, care, and belonging.
And I am grateful you are here.
